I found out how to emulate PS2 games on the PC today. I've wanted to replay GrimGrimoire for a while now but didn't know how since my old PS2 has been busted for years.

It'a a fairly obscure game with a simple story but it's the inspiration/basis that Bien's favourite game Malevolent Maledictionary is based on

the owl house was great, the show got cancelled early so they introduced some new things at the end to wrap things up but it felt like a natural progression of the story instead of a deus ex machina. don't wanna get into spoilers but i would recommend it

i'm not all that familiar with liam's work except for having watched the cliffside pilot and it looks like he does one-shot type stories better, the focus on comedy at the cost of worldbuilding makes his style of writing more suited for that sort of thing

md had way too many side characters that didn't contribute anything to the story or worldbuilding either. if anything the difference from the concept the pilot was implying to the main series was a bummer

honestly i have 2 agree, doll's side of the story was practically wasted and she died pointlessly so she might as well have not been added in with it having gaps in. the same goes for v who was supposed to 'die' in ep 6 but they decided to let her come back, i don't mind the choice but they clearly do it more for 'lets get the waifus back' & personally creator & vfan tastes instead of the actual story.

hope in this new story it won't get as fumbled, i haven't seen the creator's works like owl house but have seen snippets & it seems good just disneyfied in the restriction department like always when it comes to disney

md definitely needed a longer runtime not only to tie up the loose ends of the plot but to justify the creator's obvious "i put this here because waifu" preferences. as much as i can respect it when artists use personal taste as the main deciding factor in how they develop their stories i think it's something that takes way more time to be able to justify its place in the story so it doesn't look shoehorned in

glitch's shows are normally good-quality-ish so i'm excited to see their first take on a 2D animated series.

md def fumbled with it's ending & runtime and too many jokes in serious moments, hopefully this show will keep it's darker scenes 2 itself

Im impatient to go to 'The Little Clock', a library Outside that I managed to sneak into some times when I wander about. But Im careful to hide it from the Judges. Any sign of suspicion and Ill be reduced to being stuck in the Archives in the Court.
Ah, there is the librarian, a Bird, sitting at her table. She sees me rushing towards her and cowers, the pathetic woman. Am I so terrifying, then? I slow my steps and try to smile, wider than normal with the sharp points of my teeth showing. It seems to confuse her. She dithers, her eyes flitting here and there, hands picking up one book, then another. At last she seizes on /Univeral Travasties/ with a badly printed cover of dull shaded cover of clouds and smears of faded blood and holds it out at arms reach, to ward me off, probably.
"Not today, thanks," I say.
Her face crumples.
"I should like a book on the Universe, if you have one," I say.
She peers at me through her glasses.
"Apocalypses, if possible." She seems unfamiliar with what I mean.
"Heralds? Any sort of history will do, before the Marginals took over. Demons? Marginals?" She surely must know. "Non-Living – the world out there." I point to the windows.
She swallows, one of her talons tapping the table with a blue pen. "I feel compelled to urge you to turn to the scriptures."
"scriptures?"
"Apocalypses cannot hope to understand the infinite complexity of Marginals vision."
"But I didn't-"
She disappears under the table, where another box must be hidden, and reappears with a great, leather-bound tome. It sends out a cloud of dust as she drops it on the table. "This explains all one needs to know, about creatures, both land and sea, trees and plants, the stars in the Heavens. Marginalian history of Maldevara." She says it with eager-ness and a hopeful smile that withers and dies at my stare. As if I'm about to strangle her with the nearest cable.
"Someone with a..." she laughs , nervously. "With a of Mind, Judges such as yourself, would do best to trust in the Media rather than mankind."
" So, do you have any pre-history books at all? "
She clears her throat. "No."
"Then I shall have Universal Travesties." I snatch it up from the desk. No studying for me, then, not today, and I doubt Ill even be able to read because Im too busy grinding my teeth.
I sit in the same place as last time. A child is running back and forth across the other end of the room, running from wall to wall, their mother calling them to slow down as they excitedly go from shelf to shelf of childrens books newly added.
I sit right back in my chair. That way I can barely see them. Theyre just and irritating movement in the corner of my eye. At least the child isn't laughing. I couldnt stand that. Id have to do something about it.

Nightmares of my recent visions fracture my sleep despite the sleeping draught, waking me with a jolt over and over again.
By morning, Im dizzy with tiredness - a tiredness that persists for days.
Today Im to go to the gallery. Perhaps I can ignore all the racket of talking and stares from the others.
Sunshine streams through the windows, and yet a strange mist pervades the air, making it harder to see. If only the Judges would open the windows. They don't seem to notice the fog, but stand in pairs, gossiping.
Sunlight throws shadows. A person stands in the corner, where the light can't reach them. The hazy air makes it hard to see, but their definitely watching me and laughing. In that way some people do, implying they know something I do not. I turn my head away, but they must have moved, too, for I still see them, with their long winding black hair to the floor and long sleeves and cape, a smaller figure next to them with short blood-like hair staring with wide eyes. Even with my head lowered over a book until the print of ink is too close for me to read, there they are. I hear them breathing.
Ah, the piano at last. Sitting at it is a person with short black hair, a bow at the back worn loose. Their white dress is garish, too bright and opulent for this roomful of Judges. The two figures seem to have gone, with now only a man in the taller figures place slightly bent over watching the person play the piano with occasional mutters to the person at the piano they nod to irritatedly. The Judges appear not to see these strangers.

Currently writing some (three) short fanfics (mainly bienavota), 1 is halfway done about anselir (mainly sar kinda maybe idk tf smthlthat) when sar was alone and another is of anthony b4 he was high judge with life like in the court and visions. I wanted to give it a 'is this real? or a dream?' or 'is it a hallucination' with the uncanny valley feel. the last 1 i haven't planned yet.

I have a document of the completed 1 it on a website but ill post it here just in case, it's a collection of short snippets:

My next meet up with the so-called Angel, Aquinas, are soon to come once I'm able to ride myself of the Court's view to sneak out and show my findings and see if she has any information to spare. Working with Angels is a tad-bit annoying with how long some of them spout about insurance and souls but once you tell them your a Judge they shut up, after all. Judge's souls are pocket-lint — left last for scraps that even the birds don't want.
The bell rings - bong,bong,bong - and the clock, the clock never stops. I pace the room, my steps matching its rhythm.
Tick, tock. Tick, tock, day after day after day.She
Someone's singing in a melodic, tremulous voice. Its not coming from the Judge side, but the other side.
"Shes only a bird in a gilded cage," they sing. "A beautiful sight to see. You may think shes happy la-la-la... "
Is that a piano? I hold my breath. Yes, a piano,played slightly bad. They have a piano in their room? But Judges aren't allowed hobbies, let alone items that aren't Lawfully allowed. But, no. It can't be a Marginal either, the only Marginals in the court are Media, sometimes others like Security or the Reception. But not any others.
"La-la-la-la-la..." The singer takes a deep breath, only for more la-la-ing to follow. Their voice sounded odd, a bit feminine but their gender hard to determine. Although their voice sounded cheery they said the words in a shaky voice, as if the words were odd on their tongue. Not meant to be there.
"Shut up!" I shout. They must have been moved from the gallery to a room like mine. Perhaps their a Judge that snuck it in.
"Her beauty was sold," they sing, "for an old mans gold." The high note is a bit beyond them.
Greaaaat. Just great. All I need is a person to sing and play piano thats not even permitted while I wait for the right time to leave before its supper. How has no one heard this jarring noise down the halls? I doubt Media would put up for it, let alone anyone else. Am I having visions again, is this what it is? I can't hear the slow ticking in the back of mind like I normally do.
"Shut up!" I bang on the wall. "You aren't even allowed to own that."
"Shes only a bird... "
"Stop it." I hammer the wall with my fists , but the singing goes on all the same, so I sing 'Oranges and Lemons' to drown it out. I sing louder than them and shout the last bit. My voice sounding a bit squeaky.
"Here comes a candle to light you to bed. Here comes a chopper to chop off your head. Chop-chop-chop!"
theres silence for a moment, then a crash, as if they had thrown a fit that I interrupted them. Theyre completely mad.
"Cor blimey, what are you shouting at?"
I spin around. Media. Media standing in my room and the door closed behind them and I didn't hear a thing. How my hands clench in irritation at it.
"The Judge in the room next door was singing." I say.
"Next door?"
"In that room." I point at the wall. "In there."
They stares for a moment, that permanent grin on their face. "That's the broom cup-board, you know."
"Then their in the broom cupboard, aren't they?"
media nods, half smiles. As if I'm some kinda of idiot. "Haven't heard that song in a while. They places some papers of my duties as a Judge on the table.
It's only my usual work. Nothing to get worked up about. Nothing at all.
They hums a tune by the time they leaves. There they goes, wittering away all along the corridor in their inky form.

I slid the pen from my sleeve (not Legally allowed), pull the warp-proof notebook (also not Legally allowed) from under the desk and turn to a clean page. There were storms, and screaming and a Herald, and...
Nothing. My head is full of noise, of mutterings, of bells and clocks, with no room for impending Apocalypses or Marginal notes, or anything of use.
An hour or so passes and I have written two words; radio and ink.
Tick. Tock. The clock marks the seconds. I would stop that pendulum if I could, but they won't tell me where it is. They pretend they can't hear it, just like the bell. 'What clock?' they say. 'What bell?' They do it to drive me insane. Ill find that clock one day and stop it dead.

not saying breadavota is really all that similar to ultima iv but i can kinda see how the clunkiness feels loosely inspired by it

in particular talking to the npcs reminds me of how the code inputs work. i'd be open to seeing more ultima-like interactivity in the future where we can talk to different characters and see if certain things they say can be inputted in the code input to get more information. i think that's probably where we're going in the future since that's already what sar did in i-1-5-rd but it would be cool if we see it with more characters

I sent an e-mail to HTML Comment Box so hopefully it's just a temporary issue with their servers. I'll wait for a few days to see if it gets fixed but if it doesn't I'll look for a different service to replace it with...

Right now the website is completely static without a backend (so I can't save comments on the site myself and need a third party host for it) but I'll probably look into paying for my own hosting so I can code my own comment widget maybe some time next year. I'm not well-versed enough with the practical aspects of web development to understand the inner workings of it.

Alternatively if push comes to shove I'll just delete the comment section altogether. The people who comment on the story discuss here on the BBS more often anyway.

There were words understand in green saying 'Why didn't you call for HELP ?' With clicking on the last word sending you back to the conversation of Bien and Sar but it was all black with Sars words in green leading the conversation. As if he was in control and 'bien', you, the reader, were there to simply see.
Find it an odd dream lol if you guys have any ideas on it let me know

The first box you had to type the code (miniscule differences) and it would lead you onto a page with all kinds of new content with the BBS even having all kinds of theories on it.

The middle section of the conversation seemed to be about Bon or perhaps Bien was asking about them to Sar. If you kept getting it wrong, it would move on and Sar would be like don't worry about it, not everyone's memory is perfect, cheche. etc.
The last part was of Ava, which the tone then seemed to shift with you never being able to get it right. When you tried enough it would go onto a page with Ava trying to speak to you.

recently had a Bienavota dream and it was quite interesting:
There's was this prose story of Bien and Sar (much like I1-p5R&D) but Sar was leading all the conversation, and the background was white with all black text. Sar seemed to be asking 'Bien' some questions and there was a box underneath you had to type the response in.
If you got it wrong or random Sar would say try again, and if you got it over 5 times it would be more passive aggressive.

I wish there was a way to turn off the captchas because it's so annoying, lol.
I'll try to see if I can learn a forum software like phpBB at some point but I've been avoiding 'fully-fledged' forum software because they feel much too bloated for me...

I like the format of FC2's BBS despite how outdated it is. It's simple enough like a 'classic' BBS/imageboard without being too stripped of features (I've seen other minimalistic forums that don't let you upload pictures, for example, and I'd like at least that functionality).

We had to fiddle with an old printer to get it to work but we already finished the prints (I think we made too many, but we can always just store them for a different event if we go to another in the future). We need some more materials like holographic film to finish the prints and stickers, and then I'll see if I can finish any anime dolls.

Fandom stuff, I don't think original work will sell, haha. It's a small event that will only be for a few hours so I'm mostly just going to use it as a learning experience than anything intended to make profits or promote myself, but I might make some 'business' cards sharing BreadAVOTA for it since we don't have any social media to link to.

In other news since I'm going to start using the Spam thread to make casual conversation with whoever visits this website (three people) I encourage all of you (three people) to feel free to use this thread for whatever discussion you want.

On that vein, I have three weeks to make a bunch of merchandise for an upcoming art event. Prints and stickers will be easy but I'm thinking about making dolls/plushies; I have no idea if I'll have the time though.

I'm overwhelmed with work but hopefully by Christmas break things will loosen up. I really want to make at the very least one (1) Bread Crumb for Christmas.
